Calling All Oily/Combo Babes: Dewy Skin is Possible With These Tricks

Calling All Oily/Combo Babes: Dewy Skin is Possible With These Tricks

Presenting… a video by the M Crowd — the wildly talented group of makeup influencers who create exclusive content just for Makeup.com. Here, Ashley shares how she gets the dewy look without looking greasy.

Getting the dewy look can be difficult when you have combination to oily skin — but it’s definitely not impossible. The key is adding the glow back into the skin and creating a solid base that won’t break apart and become greasy after hours of wear. M Crowd influencer Ashley shows how to do just that in the tutorial ahead, using a really great primer and full coverage foundation.

Watch her video, below:

Step 1: Start with a mattifying primer like L’Oréal Paris Pro Matte Lock Primer and apply where you tend to get oiliest. This will ensure the oils on your skin won’t disturb your makeup so you stay dewy and glowy, not greasy.

Step 2: Next apply L’Oréal True Match Glotion (Ashley uses the shade Medium Glow), and apply all over your face and neck. This helps the skin to look glowy before you apply foundation and makes skin appear lit from within.

Step 3: After, apply a demi-matte foundation like Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H Longwear Foundation all over the skin. For this step, you’ll want a demi-matte foundation that dries down to a natural finish so you can build more glow into your look. Pro tip! Buff your foundation into skin using a dense makeup brush, then go in with a damp beauty blender to ensure you get a flawless finish.

Step 4: Highlight, contour and bronze your face as normal.

Step 5: Because this is a dewy look, you’ll want to put down the setting spray for this one. Instead, apply a light coat of setting powder anywhere you tend to get oily throughout the day. Don’t stress about your natural oils peeking through — they’ll only add to your dewy glow.

Step 6: The next step is crucial: highlight like crazy. Ashley uses the L'Oreal True Match Lumi Glow Amour Boosting Drops in Golden Hour on the high points of her cheeks and the bridge of her nose.

Step 7: Next, apply a mascara like Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara to your top and bottom lashes.

Step 8: Now that your liquid highlight has had time to settle, set it using a similar powder highlight shade (a hack we picked up from the M crowd!). For this look, Ashley uses Sunkissed from the L'Oréal True Match Lumi Glow Nude Palette to lock in your glow. Feel free to apply highlight to other areas of your face like your cupid’s bow or underneath your brow bone to achieve a dewy glow.
