How to Cover Dark Undereye Circles Using a Product You Already Own (It’s Not a Concealer!)
Dark under-eye circles are one of those things lots of us have to deal with — whether they're hereditary or otherwise. But as it turns out, thanks to YouTube vlogger Deepica Mutyala, we recently learned that bright red lipstick can help neutralize those deep purple and blue hues that have made themselves at home under your eyes.
We were so impressed by Mutyala’s tutorial, that we decided to put it to the test and try it out with M Crowd babe Julia and give you a few tips on how to get it yourself.
The Process
Step 1: After applying foundation, use an eye shadow brush to fill in the entire under-eye area and surrounding region with red lipstick. Check out the lipstick shades we chose for three different skin tones:
- Light/Fair Skin Lipstick Shade: Red with Pink Undertone (try Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Finish)
- Medium Skin Lipstick Shade: Purplish Red (try NYX Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Bloody Mary)
- Dark Skin Lipstick Shade: Coral/Orangey Red (try Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Mattes in Craving Coral)
Start with a light layer of color and build as needed until the discoloration is no longer visible. Work the color up along the brow line.
Step 2: Take your fave concealer and cover the red layer completely, using a beauty blender or sponge to blend the color in naturally. Build on your coverage until the red is completely hidden.
Step 3: Dust your face with a finishing powder (preferably one that is close to your natural skin tone) to allow for seamless and universal coverage on the face.
