The Reverse French Mani That’s Perfect for Engagement Season

So you’re getting engaged or have the sneaking suspicion that you might be. With this exciting life change on the horizon, it’s important that you have the perfect mani to match your new ring (for all the selfies, of course). With that in mind, we teamed up with celebrity manicurist and Paintbox Creative Director Julie Kandalec to create an engagement mani that’s fresh, different and will match your new bling. She chose the metallic Essie shade “Let It Glow” for its dimensional impact. According to Kandalec, using a matte top coat over a metallic shade creates juxtaposition between the two finishes in a fresh and different way. Learn how to get the look ahead.

Essie First Base Base Coat

Essie Let It Glow

Essie Good To Go Top Coat

Essie Matte About You

Step 1: Prep the nail using First Base Base Coat.

Step 2: Next, apply a thin layer of Let it Glow. Allow to partly dry before applying a second coat.

Step 3: Apply a coat of Speed Setter Top Coat to seal the color and add extra shine.

Step 4: Finally, apply Matte About You to the nail, taking care to leave a crescent moon shape bare at the base of the nail.
