How to Enhance Your Dimples With Makeup
The appeal of dimples cannot be denied. Watching as those cute little pockets on each side of the cheeks appear is deeply charming — it’s also cute and youthful, like a living doll (not the creepy kind). Some people have one, some have two and some fake them with makeup — more on that in a minute.
If you are one of the lucky dimple donners out there, we put together a few golden rules to enhance your cheeks when you apply makeup, to make your dimples shine. And if you don’t have a dimple in sight, we’ll guide you through the faking it process. Read on for our tips.
Rule #1: You Can Contour Your Dimples
To make your dimples shine, a little contouring never hurt. Try grabbing a pencil-shaped eyeshadow brush with a little contour-approved shadow (we recommend trying an eyeshadow that’s about one to two shades deeper than your natural skin tone), and lightly fill in your smile pockets, being sure to blend it out.
Rule #2: Keep Your Blush + Highlight Far, Far Away
The trick with making your dimples stand out is to concentrate your other makeup elsewhere. This means when using blush and highlighter, keeping them toward the center of your cheeks and temples so they don’t fill in your dimples unnaturally.
Rule #3: Fake it Til You Make it With a Pencil
If you aren’t #blessed with dimples, have no fear. Fake it til you make it with a pencil and a little shadow. Grab one of your favorite brown eyeliner pencils (or brow pencils, like the Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre!) and make a slight half circle about an inch away from each end of your lips. Next, blend it out slightly with a brush to bring your fake dimples to life.
