How to Get Flawless Makeup Without Foundation

It’s a common misconception that foundation is the only way to achieve a flawless, airbrushed finish. Well, I’m here to tell you that that just isn’t true. And even though we keep our fave face products close, some days you just want to give your skin a break. Whether you’re not in the mood to apply a full base or trying to get rid of your foundation altogether, we found the perfect tutorial for achieving a glowy, smooth look without foundation. The secret? Your fave concealer, a good powder and blending. Watch the tutorial, ahead:

Step 1: Fill in your brows using your fave brow products. We suggest the NYX Professional Makeup Micro Brow Pencil for a natural finish.

Step 2: Use a glowy primer or highlighting fluid on your skin to make it look healthy and bright. You can either use it all over your face or on the high points of your cheeks. We’re currently loving the L’Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Glowtion for a moisturized glow.

Step 3: Use an eyelash curler — we’re obsessed with the cult-fave Shu Uemura curler — for a wide-eyed, bright, effect.

Step 4: Grab your favorite concealer, and apply under your eyes and any areas where you feel like you need coverage. Make sure you blend to achieve that flawless, foundation-like finish.

Step 5: Grab a shimmery, natural looking highlighter and apply to the high points of your face. Blend this too — making sure there are no harsh edges or lines.

You can stop here, or take a cue from beauty guru Desi Perkins and kick your glow up a notch by adding blush and/or more highlighter (is there such thing as too much?). Finish off the look with your favorite lipstick, and you’re ready to go.
