Spotted: Our Favorite NYFW Makeup Look of the Season
Backstage at New York Fashion Week, we always come across a wide range of makeup looks, including the wearable and not-so-wearable ones. The Fall/Winter 2019 season was no different. One of our favorite beauty moments happened came courtesy of Alice + Olivia, a show that never fails to make us stop and stare. Maybelline New York Global Makeup Artist Erin Parsons created three different bold lip looks inspired by Fantasia. Parsons used the clothing collection’s bordeaux tones, bright colors and metallic fabrics to bring burgundy, red and pink lip looks to life.
Our favorite of the three was the burgundy, a dark, ombre lip reminiscent of a “blooming rose.” It’s cool enough for the cover of an editorial, but it works equally as well for a night out with friends. Find out how to recreate the look with top-sellers from Maybelline, below.
STEP 1: Apply Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation on your skin with your fingers and then apply Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer. Dust Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder across your T-zone.
STEP 2: Trace the perimeter of your lip and fill in the outer corners with Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liner in Plum Passion. Softly diffuse the pigment toward the center of your mouth with a fluffy brush.
STEP 3: Trace over the liner with SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick in Composer. Add SuperStay Matte Ink in Pioneer to the center of your mouth to create the blooming rose effect. For a glossy finish, glaze over the dark lipstick with Color Sensational Vivid Hot Lacquer Lip Gloss in Slay It and top the red center with Color Sensational Vivid Hot Lacquer Lip Gloss in Classic.
STEP 4: Using the City Mini Eyeshadow Palette in Urban Jungle or Rooftop Bronzes, tap the shimmery gold and champagne shades onto your lids. Finish by curling your lashes and coating them with Snapscara Washable Mascara in Black Cherry.
