Noticing the hairs on your head are looking a little more salt and pepper-y than you’re comfortable with? Have no fear, temporary hair dye can help cover graying hair or even give you the chance to play around with a new tone. Ahead, we’re schooling you on how to use the new L’Oréal Paris Men’s Expert One Twist Hair Color to effectively cover grays at home.

How to Cover Grays at Home

STEP 1: Pick a Product

When beginning the process of temporarily coloring your hair at home, you’ll want to look for a product that is easy to use and doesn’t cause a mess. We can’t recommend the L’Oreal Paris Men’s Expert One Twist Hair Color enough. This temporary coloring treatment covers gray hairs in five minutes.

STEP 2: Prep Your Space

Before actually adding any dye to your hair, consider where you are. It’s best to use dye in the bathroom, where you can easily wash out any dye gone rogue.

STEP 3: Use Localized Sprays

Pick the localized areas you want to dye and (very gently) spray it a couple times until the gray patches are close to your natural hair color.

STEP 4: Maintain

To ensure the life of your temporary hair dye lasts the full six weeks, be sure to refrain from washing your hair for at least 48 hours. When you do shampoo, make sure it isn’t every day and try to use a cooler water temperature, as hot water can strip some of the color.
