Transform Into a Cat for Halloween With This 4-Step Makeup Tutorial
September 29, 2022There are one of two ways to go about your Halloween makeup look: You can plan it months in advance with the help of YouTube, Pinterest and Instagram, or you can wait until the very last second to throw together a simple Halloween look. No matter which of these scenarios sounds more familiar, you can’t go wrong with Halloween cat makeup. The look can be an artsy adaptation you spend hours on, or it can be as easy as gathering a few drugstore products you already own and following the four-step tutorial ahead — your call (we’re personally voting on the latter).

STEP 1:
Apply Your Base
Apply a neutral-colored shadow with a hint of shimmer all over your lid. We love the L'Oréal Paris Color Riche Monos Eyeshadow.
-
STEP 2:
Apply Your Cat Eye
Using a liquid liner like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Grip Precision Felt Waterproof Eyeliner, use the stencil to draw on a sharp cat eye. Create a reverse wing on the inner corner of your lower lash line to play up the feline drama. Next, finish off the eye with a lifting mascara. We’ve been digging the Lancôme Lash Idôle Mascara. Or, if you want to go for an extra striking look, which we fully encourage in the spirit of Halloween, opt for dramatic false lashes, like the NYX Professional Makeup Jumbo Lash! Vegan False Lashes.
-
STEP 3:
Apply a Bold Lip
Apply your boldest, most long-lasting matte red lip color. Start by lining the lips with a lip pencil, like the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencil in 714, and add a pigmented red lipstick over top. Try the YSL Beauty Slim Velvet Radical Matte Lipstick in Rouge Paradoxe.

STEP 4:
Complete the Look
Finish the look by drawing on whiskers and outlining the tip of your nose with a black long-lasting pencil like the L’Oréal Paris Le Liner Signature in Noir Cashmere. Using a pencil first also allows you to easily remove any mistaken lines or shading. Finally, to set the color, apply a black liquid liner, like the NYX Professional Makeup Epic Wear Liquid Liner on top and your cat makeup will be complete. Don’t forget to ensure that your look will last the whole night by using a setting spray, such as the NYX Professional Makeup Matte Makeup Setting Spray.
