We Tested the New L’Oréal Paris Matte Colored Ink, and Let Us Tell You: We’re Floored
December 18, 2018Hybrid makeup products are always our favorite. We simply love a product that does great things for your skin while you wear it, or one that gives us two trends in one shot. Lucky for us, L’Oréal Paris just made our combo makeup dreams come true with their new Rouge Signature Lasting Matte Colored Ink. It’s a stain we already crave, love and throw in our bag everyday, but also has the power of a liquid lipstick which will keep our lips budge-free for hours. Ahead, we tested a few of our favorite shades, and here’s how they held up to the hybrid test.
Alanna — I Dare
A dark lippie will always be my signature go-to, so when I was asked to try these pretty new Rouge Signature Mattes from L’Oréal Paris, I naturally reached for the darkest shade. The first thing I noticed about these lippies is how lightweight their texture is, which is quite refreshing for a liquid lipstick product. It made the lipstick so much easier to apply (with just two coats), and also felt really airy on my pout. I also love how well this product stained — L’Oréal was not kidding when they came up with this feature. The color faded into a browny purple hue that made me want to reapply a lot less frequently than I would a normal liquid lip. Overall, I’m pretty impressed with this product, and I think anyone who loves a bold lip will dig it too.
Marisa — I Achieve
I love a good matte lip, but when a formula weighs on my lips so much that I can’t not notice it, you can catch me swiping it off with a makeup wipe. This new launch from L’Oréal goes on super lightweight and dries down quickly for matte finish that won’t budge. I’m especially impressed with the pointy wand to help you make your application super precise and most importantly, achieve a defined line. As someone who’s often applying my lipstick with the help of my iPhone camera on a crowded subway, the wand makes me look like a MUA came to my rescue. You can catch me wearing the bold red shade named I Achieve all winter long.
Tembe — I Don’t
I’m a red lipstick enthusiast, so with L’Oréal’s latest launch I felt spoiled for choice. There’s a total of three reddish hues — I Achieve, I Am Worth It and I Don’t — which made choosing my favorite particularly difficult. I ended up going with I Don’t, a true-red shade that looked great on. The consistency of this lippie is amazing: It’s matte but not drying and stains your lips so you can eat and drink to your heart’s content. It’s a great all day lipstick and will definitely be in heavy rotation from here on out.
Emma — I Am Worth It
I have to be increasingly strict with myself when new lippies come out, considering I ran out of space for my monstrous lip collection about a year ago. This means that a new lip has to really blow me away to earn a coveted spot on my vanity. This new Rouge Signature Matte from L’Orèal Paris did just that! I’ve never experienced a formula like this — it feels like water going on your lips, yet has incredible color payoff (layering is so easy with this formula!) and staying power. It’s matte, yet never drying — the holy grail of combinations. Quick tip: Be careful when taking the wand out of the tube! Because the formula is so watery, if you flip the wand out too quickly you may get a splash on your shirt. But even if you do, I promise it was worth it!
