We’re Obsessed With Mandy Moore’s ’90s Iconic Supermodel Waves From the Red Carpet — Here’s How to Get Them

When Mandy Moore walked the red carpet last night as a nominee for Outstanding Lead Actress for her role in This Is Us, we couldn’t help but be in awe — the hair, the makeup, that dress! Nikki Lee freshened up her hair color before the big event and Garnier hairstylist Ashley Streicher created her “’90s Cindy Crawford supermodel” glam. We have the step-by-step tutorial for the look, ahead. 

STEP 1: First, make sure you’re a candidate for Mandy’s signature red carpet colors by viewing the color chart on the side of the Garnier Nutrisse box.

STEP 2: Using the shades Garnier Nutrisse Truffle or Chestnut Brown, punch up the base of your hair to deepen the color. 

STEP 3: To add dimension to the ends, use the Nutrisse Ultra Color Balayage Kit and paint on a few lighter pieces of color to your hair. 

To Get Moore’s Flawless Big Waves

STEP 1: Prep your hair the day before by washing it with Garnier Pure Clean Shampoo and use the Garnier Strengthening 1-minute Hair Mask with Banana Extract to condition it. Last, blow dry your hair for volume.

STEP 2: After you sleep on your hair for the night, spray Garnier Pure Clean Dry Shampoo to your roots to absorb any extra oils and begin sectioning your hair to be curled.

STEP 4: Once your entire head is curled, take the top section and brush it into a big pincurl cool for 30 minutes.

STEP 5: After the hair has set for 30 minutes, go section by section and begin brushing out the curls for a looser look. You’ll be left with huge hair that screams ’90s beauty icon.  

STEP 6: Brush your hair back off of your face and spray around the hairline with Garnier Fructis Style Extreme Control Hold Hairspray. Secure with hair clips to keep the hairline pulled back. Then, gently brush through the rest of your hair for a smoother finish. 

STEP 7: Once you’re ready to head out the door, removed all of the clips from around your hairline and give it one last hit with Garnier Fructis Style Extreme Control Hold Hairspray around your face, and Garnier Fructis Style Flexible Hold Hairspray over the rest of your head.
