How to Get This Swirly, Brow Bone Eyeliner Look in 4 Steps

2022 is all about challenging the eye makeup norm for us. We’re swapping the typical cat eyeliner look for kitten liner, and moving away from using color on just the lids to other parts of the eye area, like the brow bone. For some inspiration, we asked makeup artist José Rodriguez to create a look based on the trend and the result is a must-try. Keep reading to learn how to nail it in just four easy steps.

STEP 1:

Prep the Eye Area

Start by prepping the eye area with a concealer or eye primer. Here, Rodriguez used the NYX Professional Makeup Ultimate Shadow & Liner Primer. Be sure to extend the formula from all over the lid up to the brow bone, where the liner will go.
STEP 2:

Apply Blue Swirls

Next, it’s time to apply some swirls! Using the NYX Professional Makeup Epic Wear Waterproof Liquid Liner in Sapphire, create thin, long swirls along the upper inner corner of your eye, directly below your brow. Use a light hand for this and remember that less is more.

STEP 3:

Apply Lilac Swirls

Add swirls in a contrasting liner color to the outer half of your brow bone. Here, Rodriguez used the NYX Professional Makeup Epic Wear Waterproof Liquid Liner in Lilac. Feel free to extend the design down to the outer corner of your upper lash line, too. Get creative with this!
STEP 4:

Complete With Mascara

Once your swirls are complete, finish the look with a coat of voluminous mascara. Here, Rodriguez used the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Noir Balm Mascara for long, fluttery lashes.
