Spring is almost here and we’re more than ready to break out all of the bright, colorful eyeshadow colors in our stash. To kick off the season, we’re going to be trying to recreate this sherbert-inspired eye makeup look that’s out of this world. Between the vivid pastel hues, unconventional placement and fluffy lashes, this look isn’t for the faint of heart, but if you’re looking to flex your makeup muscles and rake in the likes on Instagram, it’s a must-try. To learn exactly how to create the abstract, spring-y makeup look, keep reading for a step-by-step tutorial courtesy of makeup artist Serena Adelaide.
  • STEP 1:

    Create Your Base

Prep your face by applying a layer of foundation to even out your skin tone and bronzer for some dimension and warmth.

  • STEP 2:

    Apply Your Green Eye Makeup

Mix the NYX Professional Makeup Eyeshadow Base in White and the Vivid Brights Crème Colour in Aqua Sapphire to create a pastel mint green pigment. For this look, Adelaide used a metal makeup spatula to apply swatches of the green color onto her eyelids in horizontal strokes. Pro tip: the goal of this look is to mimic the texture and consistency of sherbert ice cream, so your application doesn’t have to be perfectly smooth or precise.

  • STEP 3:

    Layer on Some Yellow

Next, mix the same white pigment with the Vivid Brights Crème Colour in Light Snow to create a pastel yellow. Layer this color over the green swatches (without completely covering it) and liberally apply it to random areas of the brows and cheekbones, too.

  • STEP 4:

    Apply a Peach Shade

To create a pastel peach shade, mix the white pigment with the Vivid Brights Crème Colour in Cyberpop. Layer it above and around the yellow and green shades and then add a few strokes to the tops of the cheeks as well.

  • STEP 5:

    Apply a Light Pink Shade

To create the final pastel shade, mix the white pigment and the Vivid Brights Crème Colour in Love Overdose. Apply this color on the eyelids and cheeks in horizontal strokes. Then, spread it from the apples of the cheeks to the edge of the face. Finally, apply the pigment liberally on your forehead just above your brows.

  • STEP 6:

    Customize Your Look

Using what’s left of your colors, apply even more layers anywhere you want. You’ll want to keep applying the colors until your eyelids, cheeks and the area above the brows are completely covered in pigment. Using your spatula, make sure to blend the colors to avoid any harsh lines.

  • STEP 7:

    Add Falsies

Complete the eyes by applying a pair of bold, fluffy false eyelashes. If you’re not feeling falsies, apply a volumizing mascara like the L’Oréal Paris Air Volume Mega Mascara

  • STEP 8:

    Go Even Bolder

This step is completely optional, but for a fun editorial twist that will look amazing in pictures, add some of the same colors used on your eyes onto your fingers and hands.
