Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, This Eye Makeup Tutorial Is the Coolest of Them All
October 12, 2020-
STEP 1:
Carve Out Your Shape
Using a full-coverage concealer, draw a rhombus shape on your lid by creating three points in a pyramid-like formation — one on the outer corner, one at the middle of your crease and one at the inner crease — to create the “frame” of the mirror. Fill in the rhombus with your concealer, and bring it down toward the corner of your eye to create the final “side” of the mirror. We recommend using the Dermablend Cover Care Concealer for this step.
-
STEP 2:
Add a Sky Blue Color
Create your sky reflection by using a sky blue face paint, like the one in the NYX Professional Makeup SFX Face and Body Paint Palette in Brights. Using a flat eyeshadow brush, apply the paint to the perimeter of the rhombus shape you created only, leaving the rest of the lid as is.
-
STEP 3:
Complete Your Sky With a Lilac-Pink Shade
To add dimension to the sky, swipe on a pink-lilac shadow (try the one in the NYX Professional Makeup Ultimate Shadow Palette in Brights) onto the open lid space. Diffuse the pink-lilac color into the sky blue shade with a blending brush.
-
STEP 4:
Create Your Gold Frame
Outline your frame shape with the Maybelline New York Color Strike Cream-to-Powder Eyeshadow Pen in Flash. Start with simple straight lines, then add curvy details along it to mimic the frame of a vintage-looking mirror.
-
STEP 5:
Outline Your Frame
Use a precision-tipped black liner (or apply a black paint from the NYX Professional Makeup SFX Face and Body Palette in Primary with a very thin brush) to line the frame in between the blue sky and gold frame color. Next, create small black curls and waves on top of the gold waves you just created for extra dimension.
-
STEP 6:
Add Your Clouds
In a patting motion, use a small smudging brush and a white paint, like the one in the NYX Professional Makeup SFX Face and Body Palette in Primary, to build your clouds on top of your sky eyelids. Create a small, round patch of white bubbles with a straight line at the bottom to create the edges of the clouds. Complete the look by adding a sweep of pink blush onto the apples of each cheek and across the nose. For something kind of cool and extra, add more clouds onto the bridge of the nose and cheeks.
