This Starry Night Inspired Eye Makeup Tutorial Is a Must Try
February 02, 2022Starry night inspired glam is trending for all the right reasons — but especially thanks to the resurgence of art-inspired makeup on our feeds. That’s why we tapped Instagram makeup artist Serena Adelaide to create this show-stopping vision. From its stained-glass colors, halo eye shape and a lower lash line straight out of the ‘60s, this mesmerizing eye makeup has high-drama bottled into just four steps. Ahead, we made it easy to try it at-home.
-
STEP 1:
Create Your Halo
Starting from the inner corner of your eye, draw a halo around your eye with a dark purple color. Stretch it across the outer crease and connecting it to the outer corner of your eye. Serena uses the NYX Professional Makeup Jumbo Eye Pencil in Eggplant for high-glam. Add a touch of white eyeshadow or pencil to the inner third of your lid space to create some highlight.
-
STEP 2:
Color the Lid
Color the lid with a pigmented blue shadow like the NYX Professional Makeup Jumbo Eye Pencil in Blueberry Pop, making sure to keep within the lines of the purple halo.
-
STEP 3:
Add Glitter and Definition
Add a loose glitter pigment to the center of the lid to create an illuminating finish. We love the Valentino Beauty Dreamdust Glitter Eyeshadow in Silver Spark. To add a theatrical element (and make your eyes appear larger), swipe a white eyeliner on the lower lash line, starting at the inner corner extending to the edge of the purple halo. Define a ‘new’ lower lash line with a black liner, like the NYX Professional Makeup Epic Wear Liquid Liner in Black.
-
STEP 4:
Finish With Starry Night Art, Lashes and Pearls
Using a thin-tipped white liner like the NYX Professional Makeup Epic Wear Liquid Liner in White, add small stars, dots and circles to the purple halo.
Finish the look with falsies, and line them along the faux lower lash line you created. Next, apply a coat of mascara to your upper lashes and faux lower ones — we love the L’Oréal Paris Lash Paradise Mascara. Complete the look with a few pearls scattered wherever you please.
