The Essie Valentine’s Day Collection Is Here — These Are the Shades We’re Loving
February 11, 2021

I’m all about pink all the time, so Valentine’s Day is just another excuse for me to rock the shade in every aspect of my beauty look. Think: lipstick, eyeshadow and, of course, nail polish. Glow and Arrow is a beautiful, opaque pink shade that’s been my go-to the past few weeks. Plus, I’m a sucker for sparkle, so the shimmer finish brings my obsession to a whole new level. I’ll be rocking this nail color way beyond February 14th. —Samantha, assistant editor

You can never go wrong with a classic red — be it on Valentine’s Day or otherwise. I like that this shade is a bit darker than a true-red. It’s perfect for winter and has a sophisticated vibe. I may not be getting out of sweatpants on February 14th, but at least my mani will feel classy. —Sarah, senior editor

I gravitate towards light pinks and nudes for my manicure all year so obviously I had to go with Gilded Goddess for Valentine’s Day. What I love about this shade, though, is that it isn’t your typical rosy pink shade. It has a beautiful blue undertone and the most subtle shimmers that make me smile whenever I look down at my hands. I think it’s the perfect nail polish color for those who like to stay within their comfort zone (a.k.a. me) but want to make it a bit more festive and sparkly for the holiday. —Genesis, assistant editor

If I had to pick a pink- or red-hued tone to rock on my nails on Valentine’s Day, you bet it’s going to be the darkest shade in the bunch. That’s the exact sentiment I was feeling when I picked out Love Is in the Air for my V-day nails this year: a deep metallic pink-burgundy shade with purple undertones. Not only is this shade festive, it captures my more edgy makeup style. I also like how this shade sparkles in the light, making it a perfect match for candlelit cocktails on Valentine’s Day! —Alanna, assistant managing editor

I usually don’t go for light or nude nail polish shades because I like colors that contrast my fair complexion. However, I’d make an exception for this shimmery rose gold shade. The shimmer gives it personality and reminds me of a glass of a champagne, which I will definitely be indulging in on Valentine’s Day. For February 14th, I’m planning on using the shade on an accent nail and Tug at the Harpstrings, a deep red shade, on the rest. Why pick one favorite when you can have two? —Sarah, senior editor
