Four Fragrances Our Editors Can’t Live Without This Winter
November 06, 2018Let us begin by disclosing that we’re not sticklers for any sort of beauty rules. Perhaps you wear the same fragrance in the winter as you do in the summer, and that’s great. We stand behind the fact that if you like a fragrance, you should wear it whenever you want, no matter its seasonal notes or inspiration. So we implore you to wear Maison Margiela By the Fireplace to the beach or Beach Walk in the middle of a blizzard. Whatever floats your boat, kids.
With that said, check out what fragrances our editors will be wearing this fall and winter — ahead.
Maison Margiela Glow Filter, $55
I’m a fan of switching up my perfumes daily — whether that means wearing new scents or mixing. Layering perfumes has become my new favorite practice, because you always get a taste of fragrance scents you love, with a little bit of a twist every time. The Glow Filter by Maison Margiela is a perfect scent to help you achieve this thanks to its tangy, citrus aura and its ability to make every fragrance feel fresh and zesty. For this season, I find myself spritzing this one on top of every different fragrance I wear for just that little bit of extra *kick* and I’m willing to bet that you’ll be hooked, too.
Proenza Schouler Arizona Eau de Parfum, $130
When the weather gets colder, I turn to deeper, richer, smokier fragrances. But I’m not ready for full-on musk or tobacco until December at the earliest. Right now, I’m wearing Arizona because it’s the perfect blend of summer and fall. It’s dry and spicy with white cactus flower and has just a hint of musk to make it warm and cozy.
Lancôme La Vie est Belle, $120
As corny as it sounds, the combination of fruity and sweet notes in this fragrance immediately makes me feel happy. It’s perfect for both day and night and once I spray it onto my skin, I pick up the warm, vanilla notes that remind me of a crisp fall/winter day and sweater weather. This will always be a staple in my fragrance collection and another perk is that looks like a piece of art on every vanity.
Ralph Lauren Romance Eau de Parfum, $94
I like my perfume a little sexy and very floral — can you tell I only wore Bath & Body Works Body Sprays until I got to college? Romance makes me feel like an adult in the best way and is a clean and approachable scent. It smells great upon first spray and keeps the same energy throughout the day. It’s a perfect daily scent and the one I reach for in the mornings before heading out for work.
