June 03, 2021
Actress Kate Winslet isn’t just the face of the many period dramas she’s starred in — she’s also elevated the voices of the women she’s portrayed, from a small-town police investigator on Mare of Easttownto one of history’s most notable fossil hunters, Mary Anning, in the film Ammonite. In her next role, she’ll be empowering women off the silver screen as the newest global ambassador for L'Oréal Paris.
Winslet has long embodied the values of L'Oréal Paris through her charity work. As domestic violence surged during the recent COVID-19 lockdown, Winslet narrated the Shadow Pandemic campaign by UN Women to encourage people to check in on at-risk women. The actress also supports the Ovarian Cancer Action and is a founder of the Golden Hat Foundation, which breaks down stereotypes to shift social perceptions of people with autism. As a part of Cardboard Citizens, Winslet helps advocate for homeless people through theater.
As an ambassador for L’Oréal Paris, Winslet will share in the brand’s mission to encourage women to know their worth and dare to be themselves. “It’s taken work to get to a place where I make no apology for who I am, where I accept my flaws,” Winselt says. “I’m delighted to join the L'Oréal Paris sisterhood to say: it takes courage and strength to believe that you are worth it. Sometimes, you may not feel worth it at all...We all have moments like that, and that is what makes us human. But, the more you say these words and believe in everything that you truly are, and however you identify, then with time and belief in yourself, you too will feel worth it."
