There are two types of makeup obsessees out there: those who love a full-coverage foundation and those who prefer a more lightweight, skin-friendly formula, like a CC cream. There are pros of each of these options, for example,  foundations can have impressive long-wearing abilities, while CC creams often contain SPF. Here, two Makeup.com editors who have very strong opinions on which type of formula is superior are debating full-coverage foundation vs. cc cream. Read on for their thoughts and to help determine which camp is right for you.

The Case for Full-Coverage Foundation

Ariel, Associate Editor

I’m a foundation girl through and through for its versatility. Depending on how much coverage I want on any given day, I can apply a small pump, or layer it on for a full glam look. I’m partial to the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Fresh Wear 24H Foundation because the formula is super lightweight and liquidy, so it doesn’t settle into any fine lines or flaky patches on my dry skin. It’s also very buildable, so I can spread a sheer layer over my entire face and then spot conceal as needed using the same product. Another perk about this foundation is that it lasts all day — a feat during the humid summer months.

The Case for CC Cream

Alanna, Assistant Managing Editor

I love a full face of makeup, but I don’t love the cakey feeling that full-coverage foundation can leave me with. This is why the lightweight, buildable formula of a CC cream has become my go-to. The Dermablend Continuous Correction CC Cream SPF 50+ , for example, is breathable yet is able to conceal anything I want to cover, from acne scars to blemishes. I also love that CC cream formulas, like this one, have a ton of SPF protection which makes me feel protected throughout the day.
